All meals, program, crafts supplies, guest speaker fees are included in your camp fee. Financial assistance for youth that cannot cover the full fee is available through the Campership Fund.
Scouts will build quinzee’s and be given the opportunity (choice) to camp outdoors while having the opportunity to do other activities. Scouters that have attended the Winter Skills Training will have an option to test those skills by sleeping outdoors in tents for one night. This is option is also open to those Scouters who can demonstrate to the leaders that they have the skills and knowledge as to how to safely go winter camping.

Survival Kit and Geocaching

We will be working on the Survival kit . A list was handed out on the 14th of November of what is needed . If you cannot find your list I will email a copy to every one. Please bring them in and we will check them. We will also try Geo caching in the neighbourhood close by. Bring flash lights.
Also , handouts will be given out from the Red Cross to prepare a Home Emergency Preparedness Kit.
Nerf Gun Night

Finally, the youth have their fun night of Nerfgundom. Starts at 7 p.m. We will talk about rules before hand .
Also, we will discuss the upcoming toy and food drive. Also, we will talk about preparing ourselves for some possible Winter Camping in the New Year. We have some tentative ideas. We want to be " Out " as much as possible in the Winter. Please bring your ideas. Also, we need to nominate 2 patrol leaders and 2 patrol assistants. We will also be introducing software to track badge work this month.
We will try to discuss camping plans for the New Year over the next few weeks.
Please remember to bring dues. We need dues to help subsidize events. We will be keeping track of dues.
Introduction of the topic of building and racing 18 wheeler Scouting Trucks in the New Year. This is a new South Lake Simcoe initiative. The final competition will be in Walkerton, Ontario in April ,2012 for the fastest trucks! Transportation will be provided.
Remembrance Day
Monday, November 7, 2011 7:00 PM On Monday November 7th we will meet to talk about Remembrance and play games at Light of Christ School.
We will be having a toy and grocery drive for December 5th. We hope to collect all of the items to donate by this day and drop it off that day. We hope to have more details soon...
We are canvassing Scout members' interest in participating in a Winter Outdoors Camp in February 24th to 26th at Woodland Trails. There will also be a Extreme Adventure Camp April 22nd to 24th,2012 that we will discuss as well. The cost is $95.00 per person per camp.
Please remember to start bringing in dues as we will be keeping tabs on this.

Spooky Hike Night
Monday, October 24, 2011 7:00 PM The leaders will lead a frightful night time hike into the Case Woodlot behind Light of Christ School. We will meet in front of Light of Christ @7p.m. and the meeting will end at 8 p.m. for tonight only. We will try to make it as spooky as possible with ghost stories etc. as it is close to Halloween. Be prepared to be frightened. Please bring flashlights, proper foot wear as it may be wet and slippery, as well as warm clothing.
We will have a shortened meeting because the Scout leaders need to do some planning for the coming weeks until Xmas and beyond. We will try to bring some of the boys' ideas into the program.
Please do not bring you Nerf guns, as the school is closed as it is a P.A. day on Oct. 24th. We need the gym for this activity. My apologies. We use the Nerf guns on the next meeting on November 7th.

Money tins must be returned to our "headquarters" and children will then receive an Apple Day crest for their efforts. REMEMBER: • To bring a fruit basket to hold your apples and a polishing rag. • All our youth and leaders must be in full uniform. We are representing our group to the community and want to look our best. • Please dress for the weather. • Remind our scouts to use their best manners and to stay clear from storefront doors. Tonight we are meeting at the Light of Christ School Gym. Bring Dues, Indoor shoes and scout book if you have one.
The first Meeting of the 2010-2011 Scout year will be held tonight between 7 and 9 PM at Light of Christ Catholic School on McClellen Way almost at the corner of Bathurst.
Registered or not...come on out and start the year with a big surprise: The surprise being that the leaders have no idea what we will do..but, it will be fun that's for sure.
Kids may need a light jacket as we will probably be outdoors.
Highpoint 2010 is a joint Scout/Venturer Camp put on by the Central Canada Council. Our group will be among several area groups participating. Activities include tent camping, Potato Cannons, Obstacles, Bridge over the River Why?, Orienteering, Target Frisbee , 1812 at Fort Goodyear, Cardio Vascular Challenge, Beat the Clock, Treasure Hunt, The Triad, Badge Display Knot challenge, Social, Campfire, Relay, Scouts Own and many more to come
It will be a great chance to meet other groups, be part of a bigger camp experience and enjoy the activities in the great outdoors.

Back by popular demand it's Rocket Night. All the kids have built their own rockets plus we have several larger models built by leaders. With multiple launch pads and plenty of space everyone is going to get a lot of flights in.
Bring the usual dues, no books, but you will probably need rubber boots. If it rains too much we will have to cancel and reschedule. Snacks will be provided.
Launch site is a farm at the North West corner of Leslie St. and Bethesda Sdrd, - south of Bloomington. Park on Bethesda, east of Leslie.
We will be meeting at the Aurora Model Aircraft Club, just south of Wellington off Leslie - right beside the old petch house. Drive in and turn to the right to go west of the barn and then left to go to the parking lot.
The club instructors will teach us about the many scale model remote control aircraft and we will get to fly them!

Geocaching is a fun outdoor treasure hunt. Using a GPS, we look for hidden caches located in various places around the school area. We will start at the school and hike around to the caches and end up at the staples store at Yonge and Murray.
PICK UP WILL BE AT YONGE AND MURRAY (beside Staples)
Well it’s no surprise that after the last few days there is very little snow on the toboggan hill so therefore we will have our meeting at the school instead.
We will be going outside so please make sure the kids have suitable boots to walk in the snow or wet grass. And it will get cooler after the sun goes down so warm dress is still a good idea.

Meeting at Gym

Please note this is our last meeting before camp.
We will be discussing and planning for camp. Scouts should bring in their backpacks and sleeping bags so that the leader can check to see if they are appropriate for the weather conditions we will be experiencing.
We will be camping outdoors so sleeping bags should be good to at least -10 or you may need two +4 bags.
We will also practice errecting our tents as it will be dark when we arrive and it will be easier if we have had practice before hand.
In support of our Sponsor, The Royal Canadian Legion, all 5th Aurora Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts are invited, and encouraged, to participate in the Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony on Sunday November 8th.
We will all meet at the Canadian Law Book Society parking lot, on Edward Street, at 10:30am and then parade to the Cenotaph for the 11:00am ceremony. 5th Aurora will present a wreath, and will also be distributing programs to the crowd.
Please wear full uniform including navy pants and dark shoes/boots.

Haunted Halloween at Sheppard's bush

Please note the scouts will be participating in the Haunted Halloween event at Sheppards Bush. All scouts must wear a costume which will go along with our theme Caged Ghouls. If the weather calls for rain them the scouts should wear waterproof layer under their costume.
Meet at the North parking lot at 4:30 pm an we will provide the scouts with food and instructions for the event.

Registration for Scouts will take place on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion on Industrial Parkway North (rear door). The cost to register for the 2009-2010 season will be $190.00 plus the cost of uniform and dues of $2 per week.
All 5th Aurora Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and their immediate families are invited to attend our annual end of the year celebration. Enjoy the great BBQ food and campfire with other 5th Aurora families, and register for next year.
Cost: $5.00/person or $15.00/family. Bring lawn chairs.
Youth moving to the next section will participate in a small ceremony at the BBQ.
There will be an opportunity to pre-register for the fall.
We will be shooting off Rockets at Scouter Kyril's farm, which is located at: 13010 Leslie St.
We ask that you drop off and pick up your Scout at this location, or arrange your own car pooling. Drop off time is: 6:45, and pick up will be 9:00

This facility has a heated pool to practice in. It is staffed by certified dive masters. The kids will get some instruction and then get to spend some time in the pool.
The cost will be covered by the scout group. Kids should bring a towel, bathing suit and a t-shirt to get wet.
The facility is small so parents will NOT be able to watch the kids. Contact one of the leaders if you would like to arrange a ride.

All 5th Aurora Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, and their families (siblings and parents -- sorry, no friends) are invited to the 5th Aurora Family Beach Party at the Richmond Hill Wave Pool. Enjoy one metre waves, the 50 metre twisting water slide, and the "swirl" pool from 7-8pm on Saturday February 21st, and leave with a drink and snack.
The pool will have a full compliment of lifeguards, but children up to 8 years must be under the supervision of an adult (adult must swim, and be within reach of the child). Adults must also be in swimsuit to be on the pool deck.
Due to our successful Popcorn fundraising efforts during the fall, there is NO charge for this event.
Please note we will be cross country skiing and/or snow shoeing at the gym on Monday.If your son has cross country skis please get them to bring them on monday. We have about 10 pairs of extra skis for those who don't but we have a limited sizes of ski boots in the size 4 to 10 range. Please dress for the weather as we hope to be outside for most of the meeting.

Tonight we will be meeting at the gym. We will be working on geting new recruits ready for investiture and working on our Halloween event ideas. Each scout should bring 5 jokes of a ghoulish nature to the meeting and a costume idea will be worked out with drawings.
Please bring your scout books so that all events from the camp can be updated by the leaders.
Arrival will be by 10am on Saturday October 4th. We will be walking in to our camp site Chesnut Village and must carry all items on our packs.
We will be leaving on sunday after lunch. Scouts will be involved in planning the meals and will shop for their own food on the thursday evening before camp.
Therefore for the few week before camp we will be working on how to camp safely with minimal equipment.

Meeting at the gym

Tonights meet focuses ont the weather. Scouter Jim will be focusing on this topic. Oh and maybe a game or two will break out as well. Dont forget to do your badge work.
Camp cost will be $35 per person and includes all facilites and food.
Scouts will be expected to buy their own food and prepare it at the camp.
Facilities are spartan but there is a wood stove and cooking will be done on it. The camp has an archery range and a obstacle course and we will be learning how to winter camp and how to deal with survival in winter weather.
Don't all work and no play makes the scout leaders grumpy so fun will be had by all.
The Scouts will be given a budget for the Camp weekend and will have to buy their own food based on the budget. We will meet at he no frills at 7pm . Not this is a thursday event.
We will be visiting the barn whioch is next to Sheppards Bush to go through our camping kit and to do some camp planning.
The barn is at the east end of cousins rd east . It looks like a driveway. please see the map for details
